MAINTAIN FRIZZY OR CURLY HAIR

TO MAINTAIN FRIZZY OR CURLY HAIR AT BEST: THE PHYTOSPECIFIC COMMUNICATION MANAGER GIVES TIPS - ONLINE FASHION STORE FOR BEAUTY PRODUCTS

In the middle of last week, I was able to make a short telephone interview with Kathy Jean-Louis, Communication manager for Phytospecific . The questions asked focused on the specificity of frizzy and curly hair. I also wanted to know more about the Phytospecific hair care range and about Univers Phyto, the Hair Care and Hair Straightening center that I have heard so much about.

Ma Beauté Noire Au Top: Why is black hair so fragile and, especially in a temperate climate like France?
KJL. Frizzy or curly hair naturally lacks gold sebum, sebum is protective. In addition, this hair is in essence even very dry. They are less well protected, losing part of their vital elements, in particular with the various aggressions constituted by hard water, pollution, changes of seasons, discoloration, straightening ...

My Top Black Beauty: Is Straightening Dangerous For The Hair?
KJL. No, straightening is not formally dangerous. You should know that this is only a technical product that can act on the structure of the hair.  In no case should it be considered as a treatment in its own right. Care must of course be taken. Straightening is strongly advised against dyed or discolored hair and on an irritated scalp (redness, itching dandruff). Because with a straightening, the hair becomes even more fragile, more deficient. Hence the obligation to take care of it. A range of Phytospecific productshas been specially designed for this purpose. It’s important to communicate on a very specific point: in a typical hair salon, during the first straightening affixed to healthy and natural hair, the hairdresser must apply the straightening product to the whole of the hair . Thereafter, the straightening will be carried out only on the roots (that is to say the regrowth).

Phytospecific sells (for 27.50 euros ) 2 straightening kits to make at home, for 2 types of hair. Index 1 is for fragile and fine hair, index 2 is for normal, thick and resistant hair. If you choose this option, (helped in this task by another person), you must scrupulously respect the indications and the recommendations which are indicated on the notice ( note  : it is not necessary to exceed the pause time because, it is take the risk of exposing yourself to irritation or even exceptionally to burns of the scalp).

My Black Beauty On Top: You have opened in Paris on 8 th arrondissement, a care center and straightening (Phyto Universe), what are the benefits you offer?
KJL. It is also a sales and advice space. We carry out a free diagnosis of your hair (without appointment) using a device which considerably enlarges the hair shaft and which "scans" the scalp to orient you as best as possible to the Phytospecific productswhich suit you. Exclusive straightening is also offered.

My Top Black Beauty: What is the particularity of your straightening?
KJL. It is a revolutionary, natural, smooth straightening. Unlike most straighteners which are made of soda, ours is based on natural active ingredients: egg and soy.

My Top Black Beauty: How Much Does It Cost?
KJL. In salon, the average price of a straightening (which lasts about 2 hours) is 240 euros and, 100 euros for regrowth.

My Top Black Beauty: What is the rhythm to adopt between 2 straighteners?
KJL. For the frequency, everything depends on the nature of the hair. The more the hair is frizzy, the closer the time between 2 straighteners (on average every 2 months).

My Top Black Beauty: How to maintain hair after straightening?
KJL. First rule: hydrate them well . For example, to maintain relaxed hair in good condition, you can choose the intense nutrition program which includes the following products:
-The Revitalizing Treatment for the pre-shampoo (it is an oil bath to be applied generously before the shampoo )
-The shampoo Intense Nutrition ,
-The Mask Intense Nutrition , after-shampoo ( ed : this is a cream bath). And au daily, to take care of your hairstyle, I recommend Integral Care (a comfort styling) or Hydrating Styling Balm ( note : your blogger in person uses it to discipline rebellious strands and moisturize hair) or even Veil of Brilliance . It's up to you.

My Black Beauty On Top: What to do to prevent regrowth from being seen too much, especially for front hair?
KJL. For aesthetic reasons (too visible regrowth), some women wait very little time between 2 straighteners. J e advises against this practice. With the products I mentioned earlier, the root is softened, hydrated enough so that the regrowth cannot be seen.

My Top Black Beauty: In your center, do you style your hair straightened?
KJL. Yes and no. We do care, but not hair straightening (brushing type).

My Black Beauty At the Top: Vanilla, flat twists, bonded mats, weavings, braids with (or without) adding wicks: what do you think? Do these hairstyles damage the hair?
KJL. I say yes for a change of look. However, for hairstyles with added wicks or weaving, I recommend not to keep them too long because, it pulls on the bulb. The best would be to keep them between 2 and 3 months, no more.

My Top Black Beauty: How Often Should I Use Shampoos?
KJL. The ideal is once a week. Shampooing more than once a week would damage the hair and every 15 days would be insufficient.

Question Ma Beauté Noire Au Top not asked Kathy Jean-Louis: Can we shampoo on braided hair?
Relevant answer found on MISSNIANGA.COM. Some women, for fear of undoing their braids, do not wash them. Which is obviously not a good idea. If you use oil-based products to hydrate and make them shine, or if you do sports that make you sweat, you will likely have a layer of residue in your braids. So, not washing them for a long time can cause odors from growing bacteria.

Here are the solutions to wash your hair without undoing it:
-Use lukewarm water and shampoo diluted in the direction of the separation of the mats and, following their geometric shape,
-Place your fingers between the separations and rub, stirring slightly each mat over its entire length,
-Rinse thoroughly the hair to remove residues which could have become trapped under the mats or between the separations,
- Gently sponge with a towel while dabbing and avoid moving the mats in all directions at the risk of tangling the hair or undoing it,
- When the mats are dry:
- Follow with an ointment or a moisturizing spray ( note  : I use the Phytospecific Sheen Veil ,really effective) by lightly oiling the scalp,
-Brush with a soft bristle brush following the direction of the braids and tie a scarf to properly discipline small hair that protrudes from the mats.

It is important to:
-Wash your hair once a week at least, or when you start to feel itchy,
-Insist especially on the whole scalp,
-First dilute the shampoo as this prevents the scalp to dry out and prevent a matt film from forming on the braids.

My Top Black Beauty: Are Black Hair More Subject to Dandruff?
KJL. Yes, as I said at the beginning of the interview, it is due to a lack of sebum. But, as a rule, these are not real dandruff. These are often dry dandruff ( note  : they are very fine and easily come off) which can be easily treated with a specific anti-dandruff treatment such as Duo Squam Control Phytospecific ( which includes a gel and a lotion ). But, in case of oily dandruff ( note  : linked to an excess of sebum in the hair, they are found on oily hair; they are easy to recognize because they are yellow and stick to the skull ), it is better to consult a specialist (a general practitioner or a dermatologist) who will give you a specific treatment.

THE PHYTOSPECIFIC  universe in a few words
For 40 years, the Phytosolba Laboratories founded by Patrick Alès,are the pioneers of invaluable know-how, based on fundamental and rigorous research at the heart of plants. A few years ago, its founder wanted the greatest specialists to use their knowledge to treat curly, frizzy, relaxed hair as well as (recently) matte, black and mixed skin. Led by Fatou Batchily-Plat , Doctor of Science in Pharmacy and Chemistry, teams of engineers-phytochemists, pharmacists and dermatologists drew on this unique know-how to give birth to Phytospecific in 1998. The brand has d 'first landed on the North American market - and then "invaded" Europe -. At the time, Phytospecificwas the first high-end ethnocapillary skincare line, high in active ingredients of natural origin, specially dedicated to frizzy and curly hair. Then, after 8 years of research, a new generation of dermocosmetic treatments was born. Phytospecific treatments are subject to efficacy tests, under medical supervision.
